TD Ameritrade: Invested in a brand new crypto exchange, ErisX. It will allow trading of BTC, BCH, ETH, LTC, BTC Futures, and certain crypto futures. The exchange, built by derivatives market provider Eris Exchange LLC, is also backed by DRW Holdings and Virtu Financial. The futures contracts traded by the exchange will be physically delivered, not cash-settled.—Exchange

Gemini: Obtained insurance coverage for the digital assets it holds in custody, making use of the service set up by global professional services firm Aon. Gemini’s digital insurance coverage will complement the already available FDIC-insured U.S. dollar deposits.—Exchange

BinanceInvested $2.5M in Australian start-up TravelbyBit, aiming to launch crypto payments across airports globally. TravelbyBit will use the new funds to introduce new point-of-sale payment systems powered by blockchain tech, to be installed at major airports around the world—Project Development

Brazil: The country’s Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE) sent 10 crypto exchanges and an OTC trading desk a questionnaire they have to answer by Oct. 19, or face a fine that could reach up to $25K. The regulator asks exchanges to detail the measures they’ve adopted to prevent money laundering, terrorism financing, or organized crime. Bitfinex: To go under planned infrastructure maintenance on October 4, 2018 between 6:00 AM UTC and 6:00 PM UTC. The exact timing of the maintenance update will made public 30 minutes prior to the start of the update.
